At PapaKoala, we believe that what happens in the family stays in the family. We designed our technology with privacy as a foundational pillar, not an afterthought.
1. Executive Summary (For busy parents)
- We do not sell your data. Ever.
- Your photos and baby data are yours. They are stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We (the developer) have no access to them.
- Zero-Tracking Website. We do not use Google Analytics or advertising pixels on our website. You can browse freely.
- If your school has given you an access code, the app records anonymous usage data so the school can view activity metrics. See Section 10 for full details.
2. Data Controller
The entity responsible for the operation of the PapaKoala app and the papakoala.com website is the PapaKoala development team (hereinafter "We"), based in Spain. You can contact us for any legal questions at [email protected].
3. Data We Collect (and Data We DON'T)
A. User-Generated Data (Photos, Names, Dates)
All personal information you enter into the app (baby's name, birth date, profile photo, milestones achieved) is stored locally on your device and synchronized exclusively via your private Apple iCloud account.
Important: We do not have our own servers hosting this information. We cannot see your baby's photo or know their name. You have total control.
Exception — School Mode: If your school has provided you with an access code, the app does send anonymous usage data to our servers. Full details in Section 10.
B. Subscription Data
To manage your Premium access, we use RevenueCat and Apple StoreKit. These services process an anonymous identifier of your user to know if your subscription is active. We do not process your bank or credit card details; Apple handles the entire payment securely.
C. Web Browsing Data
On our website (papakoala.com), we prioritize your privacy. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixels, or any third-party tracking cookies. We do not track your IP address for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
The application uses trusted services to function correctly:
- Apple iCloud: To sync your data between your iPad/iPhone devices. Apple Policy.
- RevenueCat: To manage your subscription status. RevenueCat Policy.
- Cloudflare (School Mode only): When you use a school code, anonymous usage data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare Policy.
5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Since your personal data resides on your device and in your iCloud, you exercise your rights directly:
- Access and Portability: You can view all your data by opening the app.
- Right to be Forgotten (Deletion): If you wish to delete your data, simply delete the application from your device and remove the iCloud backup if desired. Since we do not have servers with your data, you do not need to request deletion from us: deleting the app removes the data.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Our application is not directed at children under 13, but at their parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children on our servers. All information about the child is entered by the parent/guardian and remains under their strict control on their personal device.
7. Cookies (Zero-Tracking Policy)
We operate a cookie-free website regarding tracking and advertising. We do not install cookies to track your behavior or serve ads. The only technical data exchanged is strictly necessary for the website to function securely (e.g., via Cloudflare for security protection). Therefore, no cookie consent banner is required.

The content of PapaKoala (activities, videos, texts) is for educational and entertainment purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice or diagnosis.
Every baby is unique and develops at their own pace. If you have concerns about your child's psychomotor development or health, always consult your pediatrician or healthcare professional. Never disregard professional medical advice because of something you have read in this application.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page. You are advised to review this page periodically.
10. School Mode — Analytics Data
If your educational institution has provided you with a PapaKoala access code, the app operates in "School Mode" and works differently from what is described in the previous sections. In this case, we do send certain data to our servers so that the school can view usage metrics for their families.
What is collected exactly?
- An anonymous device identifier generated when the app is installed. It is not your name, email, or any data identifiable to Apple or to us.
- The school code you entered to activate the mode.
- When you open the app in school mode (session timestamp).
- Which activities you complete: the video identifier and development stage (e.g. "Imagina"), without accessing any content you create.
- The app version installed.
What is NOT collected under any circumstances?
- Your name, email, or any personally identifiable information.
- Baby photos, the baby's name, or date of birth.
- Your location.
- The content of your personal journal (milestones, notes).
What are these data used for? They allow the school to see, through a private dashboard, how many families use the app, how often, and which activities are most popular. You cannot be individually identified — the school views aggregated metrics, not individual user profiles.
How long are they kept? Analytics data is retained while your school's licence is active, plus an additional period of 12 months after its expiry. After that, the data is deleted or permanently anonymised in aggregate form.
Legal basis: The collection of this data is part of the service contracted by the school with PapaKoala. If you have questions about how your school handles this information, contact the educational institution directly.
