# Javier Atance Ibar

PhD in Education and school counsellor. He reviews PapaKoala's activities from an educational point of view.

## His background

Javier Atance Ibar holds a PhD in Education from the University of Alcalá and a degree in Educational Psychology. Since 2007 he has been the school counsellor at CEIP Los Olivos, a public infant and primary school in Cabanillas del Campo (Guadalajara, Spain), and before that he was head of CEIP Virgen de la Paz in Alovera.
He started out as a music teacher in 1997 and trained in psychomotricity at the International School of Psychomotricity of the Complutense University of Madrid. He writes music textbooks for Pearson Education.
He chairs the section of school counsellors, educationalists and educational psychologists of the Official Association of Graduates in Philosophy, Letters and Sciences of Castilla-La Mancha. He works with PapaKoala in a personal capacity, not on behalf of the Association.

## His education

- PhD in Education, University of Alcalá (2018)
- Master's in Diversity and Educational Support, University of Alcalá (2013)
- Degree in Educational Psychology, Camilo José Cela University (2005)
- Diploma in Psychomotricity, Complutense University of Madrid (1999)

## What he reviews

- That each activity suits the age it's meant for.
- That the steps are clear and can be done at home, with things you already have.
- That what it says it works on (the areas of development) matches what the child actually does.
- That the tone supports the family: no rush, no comparisons and no diagnostic language.

## What he doesn't review

The app's health guidance (sleep, feeding and allergens) is outside his field: it relies on the World Health Organisation, the American Academy of Paediatrics and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and each piece cites its source.

## How each activity is made

1. Each activity starts from a developmental goal and from published studies, cited at the end of its page.
2. Javier reviews it from an educational point of view before it reaches the app.

## Who's behind it

PapaKoala was created by Samuel Martín, its founder, who coordinates the content. If you see something to improve in an activity, write to us at hola@papakoala.com.
